Ok, this hand made me really mad recently. Not really sure what sort of analysis I can give as to how I "played it wrong" as I moved all in preflop with about $6 in a 0.05 / 0.10 game and the guy called me with 10 2. He made 2 pair by the river. He hit the 10 on the flop (or maybe it was the 2) then the other card on the river. Odds against that happening are enormous. Oh well, it happens.
Is it just me or is the facebook weekly tournament set up just extremely weird? You join a table and next thing you know you're either heads up against someone or you have less than 4 people at the table. I just find it odd that someone can have so many chips when I show up and I'm stuck playing short stack in a tournament. Their interface for this tournament thing is just plain weird. That and its not really a tournament, you play for a bit, leave while you still have chips then somehow rank in the top % of players. It's not a tournament, its a cash game where when you run out of chips you're out. That's all it is.
Aside from the hands you'd typically expect to see someone say you should play (AA, KK, AK, etc) the big blind can be a great place to play some really weird hands and yet still pick up a winner. Of course if someone starts betting big on the flop and you didn't connect with anything you should just fold. But if you caught something, well hey, time to run with it. The check raise can be very effective from this position.
Well we have The Bay Area Group now up on Facebook, and there are a couple Meetup groups available, although none of them have had a meetup in quite a while. Hoping to generate some leads here for people in the Bay Area looking to play. There will be a game shortly every week set up through The Bay Area Poker Group over on Facebook if anyone is interested.
